Advantages: Quick and easy shopping via your TV - in theory.
Disadvantages: Poor value and shockingly inadequate customer service.
My wife has used Create&Craft / Ideal World for some time - against my advice, as the security certificate on their website does not seem to be current - throwing up warnings on much of my security software.
When my wife made a recent purchase she was presented with a pop-up requesting confirmation of her credit card number - ostensibly from the credit card issuer. Some credit card issuers do use a double-check system, but they ask for a password, not the actual cc number. If the security popup had been genuine, then refusing it should have cancelled the transaction - it didn't - leading me to suspect it was a phishing attempt - smack in the middle of a 'secure' payment page! I'm no computer security expert, so I wasn't sure of course - but after several months and multiple emails, Ideal World has offered nothing but platitudes on what I regard as a very serious security question.
I also queried it with the Royal Bank of Scotland (credit card issuer) , and they haven't replied either. I honestly don't know if I'm right or wrong about the danger, but I'm shocked by the apathy of both retailer and bank towards a simple security query. I've advised my wife to do no more shopping with this website.
Judging by other comments in this thread, this is one retailer you'd be well advised to stay away from.
Summary: Do yourself a favour - just switch the channel off and don't be tempted.

- 05/04/09 Ideal World isn't a show - it's a shop with 24/7 adverts - and not a very good one. My review was intended to show the risks. I'm happy for it to stand as it is. |

- 27/03/09 Your review barely touches on the channel and show so could do with a bit more info to make it more useful. |
