Advantages: great choice of telly

Disadvantages: stupid ad breaks

ITV1 is what I will be reviewing, not any of the other digital channels, just before I start. The channel has been on air since 1995, and its had some tough times, due to the phone-in scandals that have happened in the past year.

*What Type Of Channels Are On ITV1?*
To start off your day, you are greeted with GMTV, which is a news show that runs from 6am to 9.30am, so good if you need to catch up with the news before going to work. After that there are a lot of lifestyle type shows, such as This Morning, hosted by Phillip Schofield and Fern Britton, Loose Women, a themed chat show hosted by women, and there are a variety of chat shows hosted by famous people, but Alan Titchmarsh springs to mind as one at the moment. The main theme for daytime TV on ITV is lifestyle and chat, which is great for the women of the house, but not for me thanks.
In the evening there is the news at 6 until 7, and then the soaps kick in, Emmerdale and Corrie, which have varying times, due to a number of variables, including Champions League football, which is greatly received. After this there are normally drams like The Bill or Taggart, or reality shws like Hells Kitchen or I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. These shows are the highlight of the channel for me, as they really give some great entertainment

*Who is the Channel Aimed At?*
Well it all depends on what time of day it is, if it's the day time, the channel is mostly aimed at women, or men that like women talking about women. In the evening, the channel is suitable for anyone, with a good variety of shows to suit all needs.

*Anything Else*
Annoyingly, the channel needs advertisments to survive, but these can sometimes get ridiculous, with the Champions league only a week ago having no more then 8 ad breaks, which happened every 5 minutes or so, but none during the football, which is good. The amount of adverts for other shows on their channel is snnoying, because it tells you that Hells Kitchen will be on at 9 o clock four times a day.

Overall though, the channel is a very good one, especially if you don't have Sky/Virgin Media. It has a wide range of choice to watch.

Thanks For Reading.

Summary: great channel with great shows
