This channel shows the X Factor but doesn't have it (ITV 1)

ITV1 is the TV station that is franchised across channel three nationally. We each have our own regional variations that show different news programs, but it's all part of the ITV network.

I love this channel, but only for one reason: The X Factor! The X Factor is the best thing currently on TV, and I really really enjoy it. However, that said, this channel also shows a lot of rubbish! For example, before the X Factor is family fortunes, or Harry Hill's TV Burp. Low grade comedians hosting family entertainment shows is my worst idea of fun, and I really don't enjoy those shows. Similarly, soaps such as Coronation Street bore me to tears. Low quality acting, naïve and sensationalist storylines- boring! No, this channel is 90% rubbish, in its coverage of British TV that fails to entertain those who like a bit of brain in their TV.

As if that wasn't bad enough, the channel has adverts, which break up all of the shows every 15 minutes or so. One good thing is the way ITV.com allows you to watch live coverage of the channel, as well as catch up with the shows you've missed that week. However, unlike the Channel 4 version of this service, they still show adverts, and there are only around 3 on constant rotation.

I have to say I prefer Channel 4 which showcases more American TV. As a country I don't think we make very good TV drama, and the likes of a touch of frost and heartbeat are confirmation of this. Reality TV such as the X Factor, which relies on little scripting, is always pretty good on this channel, but sadly its too few and far between.

All in all, a good channel for its reality TV, but the drama stinks.
