Advantages: Lots of popular shows, good mix of drama, reality and films
Disadvantages: Daytime quite weak, several repeats (not always a bad thing)
ITV2 is a digital channel available on Freeview, Sky, Virgin, Freesat and other digital tv platforms. It was the first digital only channel to come about from the broadcaster ITV. The channel mainly aims towards a young audience and hosts a wide variety of shows including drama, lifestyle, movies and music shows.
Daytime on ITV2 is probably the weakest time for the channel as it is mainly made up of repeats. This isn't always a bad thing though. They repeat Emmerdale and Coronation Street from the night before so if you missed them on ITV1, you know you can catch up. Also during daytime they show many chat/lifestyle shows such as Jeremy Kyle and several american shows such as Judge Judy and The Ricki Lake Show. If people like these shows then they will love ITV2 daytime, but for people who don't, avoid the channel most of daytime.
Primetime is ITV2's strong time period. Ok it does still contain some repeats, but also contains american dramas and sometimes british dramas, films, reality and spin off shows from popular ITV1 shows such as Britain's Got Talent and X-Factor.
Some of the more popular shows in primetime include Xtra Factor, Britain's Got More Talent, Gossip Girl, America's Got Talent, American Idol, What Katie Did Next, Hell's Kitchen USA, Paris Hilton's Best Friend Forever, Katy Brand's Big Ass Show, Entourage, repeats of ITV1 dramas such as Primeval and various films.
At times ITV2 can be fairly weak, but usually there will be something on for everyone at some point in the day. It is one of the most popular digital channels with shows often getting over 1 million viewers nowadays so if you have never checked out the channel yet, give it a try.
The one thing that does annoy me with the channel (along with other ITV digital only channels) is the full colour DOG (Digital Onscreen Graphic) in the top left hand corner. In other words, the logo you see. If ITV just made it grey and faint it would be fine.
Otherwise a usually decent channel, mainly for the teens and young adults.
Summary: If you haven't already, have a watch and see what you think.
