*Introduction*
Living TV is a fantastic channel which shows a great deal of the television programmes that I watch. I first started watching it when my parents got Sky. It was a novelty to have so many channels to choose from and I soon learnt that many of them we're absolutely rubbish but Living TV doesn't fall into this category. I found myself recording many of the programmes that Living TV air whilst off sick from work one week. The channel suits me as it is predominantly crime and drama based programmes, my favourites.
*About Living TV*
Virgin Media Television own the British channel Living TV that was launched in September 1993. It was initially launched as UK Living but has since changed its name to Living TV in 1997 in order to lose its association with the UKTV network.
The TV channels demographic used to be predominantly women, with shows like Greys Anatomy and America's Next Top Model, however they now have many shows that will appeal to the majority of ages and also men.
*The Programmes*
Some of the programmes on the channel that I watch include:
Justice - This is a legal drama that was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, and I think it's a great show. I unfortunately am in the minority in this opinion as it only has been axed after only one series.
Close to Home - This is a legal drama that focuses on criminal prosecutor Annabeth Chase's family life and her case files. Rarely does she not convict those that she goes after.
Greys Anatomy - This is a medical drama that follows a group of medical interns in terms of their careers and personal lives. I think this programme is one of the best around, although it's definitely not for everyone. It's not based on anything close to real life and is a great, fun show to watch.
CSI (Las Vegas) - The original CSI is based in Las Vegas and observes Grissam and his team solving a wide range of crimes using scientific methods. It amazes me how much you can learn whilst watching a programme like this. I wouldn't advise watching it if you don't like gruesome sights.
CSI Miami - This program is a spin off from the Las Vegas CSI. It follows Horatio and his team of forensic investigators solve various crimes in Miami. I find this to be just as good as Las Vegas.
Criminal Minds - This is a criminal drama show which analyses the criminal's behaviour in order to solve the crimes. I love this show as it is full of great storylines and fantastic characters, especially Morgan and Reid.
Lipstick Jungle - This program is brought to us by the same author as Sex and the City, Candace Bushnell. It follows the lives of three best friends as they attempt to create a balance between their successful careers and personal lives. It has a fantastic cast and glamour is a guarantee.
Army Wives - This is a drama that follows the lives of the wives (or husband) of those serving in the American Army. It is very different to anything else I have seen on television and shows the perspective of those who worry for the safety of their partners.
Dirty Dancing: The Time of Your Life - This is a reality show that goes in search of a Johnny and a Baby. Kelly Brook is the presenter and a judge on the show after replacing Jennifer Ellison. You certainly don't have to like dancing to find this enjoyable to watch.
Private Practice - This is a spin off show from Grey's Anatomy and is brilliant. I was really gutted to find out that Addison was leaving Greys but we I learnt that it was to star in a spin off show, I soon got over my disappointment. Addison has joined her friends from medical school at their fertility and hormone clinic. It is very different to Grey's Anatomy but has the same level of crazy storylines.
Other shows that are popular that I personally don't like include Most Haunted, Ghost Whisperer, Charmed and Living with the Dead. It also has a variety of reality television shows on throughout the year, for example Jade's PA.
*What Channel Can Living TV Be Found On?*
Living can be found on 112 on Sky Digital. I also love the fact that it has a plus one channel that screens the same shows an hour later. This is fabulous for me on Sky Plus to plan my viewing! This is located on 113. You can also locate it on channel 110 if you have Virgin Media or channel 111 for the repeat.
*Do I Recommend the Channel?*
I highly recommend Living TV due to the large variety of shows that it has and the quality of those shows. I think it would be amazing if Living TV were to become available on free view television rather than just via sky but I think that is highly unlikely.
*Overall*
I adore Living TV and I unquestionably suggest that you watch the shows that it broadcasts. If there was one channel that I couldn't live without, Living TV would be it. It has brought a number of my favourite shows to my attention.
I am not a fan of adverts but I like that the channel doesn't have ridiculously long adverts at random times whilst you are watching a programme.
