MTV2.......ALTERNATIVE !!!!! (MTV 2)

Ever since i first got Sky Digital i have been watching MTV2. It has the sort of music on it that makes it deserve the title, 'alternative music television'. MTV2 plays the music that other channels are scared to play. From KoRn to Pantera, to 28 Days, to the Sex Pistols, it is all there to be chosen.

Some of the best features on MTV2 are the 'alt. music television' and 'veiwers choose' not to mention the 'artiss choose'. over the last year i have seen such 'artists choose' as Blink 182, The Bloodhound gang and Eminem. Also Metallica, Muse and Radiohead. Most of the songs chosen are old songs (due to the age of the members of thr said band.) But there is always at least 2 songs by the artist themselves which are usually played at the beginning, the middle(ish) and the end.

'Alt. music Television' shows all the new videos and most are exclusives not seen anywhere else. Some however are shown on Kerrang TV first, 'Million Miles Away' by the offspring being a prime example (although the video on kerrang isn't actually live, it is the album track dubbed over, whereas the MTV2 version IS.) Most however are shown on MTV2 first. Also on 'Alt. music television' they show some older tracks like 'Dammit' by Blink 182 and 'All i want' by the offspring.

A new feature on MTV2 is the 'Indie Anthems'. This is an hour dedicated to everyones favourite tracks from independent bands (ie. the ones that are on labels like 'Epitaph, or Hellcat records.) Either that or it is all songs that are of the indie nature (ie. Blur or Oasis) i can't quite be sure yet, because i haven't watched it hardly.

Another couple of great points about MTV2 are as follows : 'Beavis and Butthead' on a friday night, and live concerts from the likes of 'Less Than Jake' and 'Green Day', 'the most wanted chart' not to mention a program on the
the summer sanitarium tour featuring:
Kid Rock
Metallica
Powerman 5000
KoRn
and a few others.

Some of the bad points about MTV2, are that they play to much 'viewers choose' and that they don't have ENOUGH features on smaller bands. doing special hours dedicated to the small bands would br great and do the channel a lot of good.
