Advantages: Introduces New Bands, Grest if you like Indie/Rock, Shows Good Videos

Disadvantages: Not good if you dont like that genre of music

Nowadays MTV has loads of add on channels. From the original MTV we have MTV Base, a rather poor channel for those of us who like hip-hop, MTV Hits - showing...well hits, MTV Dance for Dance music and then theres MTV 2 showing the best alternative music (Why is it called Alternative - Alternative to what? I'd have called it Indie/Rock).

If like me your favourite genre of music is indie/rock then MTV 2 is the best music channel around challenged only by maybe Kerrang.

The fact of the matter is its really annoying when you are watching at TV Music Channel and a video you like comes on - this happens on MTV ansd other channels with no set genre. I think its a good thing that these channels (MTV Base, MTV Dance, MTV 2, MTV Hits) bwecause you are then pretty safe of finding a video you like.

There are so many music channels around today: VH1, Kiss, MTV and now the newly aired Kerrang:Life Is Loud. You have such a choice you probably will always be able to find something you like.

Another good thing I like about MTV 2 is that there are alot of bands I haven't heard on there for example My Vitriol. I saw one of their videos on MTV 2 and got more interested in them. I've actually bought their album now and they are brilliant. MTV 2 introduces new bands as well as mor epoular old ones.

What it all comes down is if you like alternative indie/rock then the chances are you'll like MTV 2 - its a channel for indie/rock. So if you like R'n'b, Hip-hop, dance etc... - don't watch it. However if you like indie/rock watch it - you could see your favourite videos aswell as maybe finding out about new bands.

Thanks, Rockstar707.

I used to watch MTV2 all the time, but now I tend to prefer Kerrang or Q, as sometimes MTV2 tends to get a bit grungey and play more depressing songs. Good review nevertheless. Alan
