Advantages: Perfect for all rock fans

Disadvantages: Non rock fans wouldn't be happy watching

From the very first day of Music Television, right up to the current day we have seen the channel expand substancially into somewhat of a series of channels.

Nowadays we have MTV, MTV 2 Dance, Rap, Base, MTV Hits and I'm sure there are more. But the one which I most frequently view is MTV 2, the rock channel. It shows rock, indie, Punk Metal and Nu-Metal and shows them non-stop. Last night I was watching Nirvana - Live And Loud, a tribute to Kurt Kobain who passed away eight years ago this month.

The advertisements are minimal, which is good, and the music is great. The best programme is the 'MTV2 Most Wanted', which shows the most requested rock songs of each day.

Every rock group is played, with some 'unknowns' and most well-knowns. For example, System Of a down, Deftones, Incubus, Korn, Slipknot etc. may be played, then lesser knowns are played, for example, the pathetic 'Cooper Temple Clause', the poor 'Cyclefly' and the better 'Soil' would be put on.

This channel doesn't just stick to American groups though, we've seen The Lostprophets of England, the Canadian Creed, and Nickelback and even the European sensation, Rammstein of Germany.

Everyday we see the boring 'In Control With...'. The only ever decent one of them I've ever seen is with Puddle Of Mudd. Apart from that it is just Indie groups, but I suppose the Placebo one wasn't bad.

Coming up soon, which I'm very much looking forward too is the interview with Slipknot's Joey.

Occasionally you catch an episode of the legendary, barbaric dumb-asses of Jackass, but only occasionally, watch MTV throughout the week or E4 on Monday to Wednesday to see that.

MTV2 Rocks is a good frequently played programme, with about 2 hours of non-stop music, well, non-stop minus the little adverts.

So, if you're a metal, indie, punk rock, metal or nu-metal fan, don't
be hesitant to tune in, but if not, try the Box or something or whatever you like.
