MTVNewest Review: ... the disjointed family is typical of its programming. Whilst bad language is beeped out, it still shows lots of bad behaviour: not ideal for young viewers. My favourite part of the channel is MTV Cribs, which follows famous people around their homes. The best was probably 50 Cent who had (among other things) a $1 million car!! All in all, I like this channel as a secure adult, but I think ... more More MTV TV channels

MTV is a US based music TV show that has changed its face over the years. Whilst it still plays a lot of music videos, its primary content is now reality TV shows for teens. Music videos haven't been around that long, but it's amazing how far they've come. These days, there are huge budgets for them, and they're scripted and choreographed like films. For many people, the videos become more interesting than the songs, and they really have become an integral part of the music industry. Sadly, most videos contain scantily clad women or men. I say sadly, because it really does sexualize the music, and I can't help but feel that's a poor influence on ... Read the complete review

Addictive as this channel is to watch, it's fallen away from what it first set out to do. MTV stands for 'music television' and you would therefore think that its primary intention is to play music videos and be a channel dedicated the art of music. This is certainly what it originally did. Music giants like the recently departed Michael Jackson owe much to this channel promoting their music videos and thus their music. But it is rare that you even catch a show that is musically related now. Sure the programmes that the channel does show: 'The hills', 'Run's house' etc are entertaining and frustratingly addictive but they have nothing to do with music. It's a great ... I really like MTV during the day and does show some great music videos, but its a shame you have to pay extra for it. We used to get it on our Sky package but have decided to save some money and have scrapped it. If you didnt have to pay for it, I would definetely choose it over other music channels and just have it on in the background. Although I do have to say, they are starting to show a lot less music videos and putting on reality programs. For people that have never heard on MTV, its a music channel which used to play lots of music non-stop, however now this channel has a lot of breaks for commercials between songs and doesnt play much music in the ... Music television. If the name was anything to go by, you would expect a lot of music to be going on when you check out this channel. This is the exact oposite to what is on the channel nowadays. I remember the simpler times when if you wanted music, you could put on MTV and it would have all the best new music, but that was about 10 years ago. Now all that is on MTV (MTV 1 atleast, the other MTV channels have music, such as MTV hits, MTV 2 etc.) is rubbish reality TV shows with stuck up teenagers. I simply no longer take the time to look at MTV anymore. This is not even mentioning the adverts, which last about 5 minutes, every 10-15 minutes. It ... Read the complete review

MTV is a pay to view tv channel and has grown over the past 10 or so years and has changed its format somewhat. MTV used to be a music channel - lots of videos streamed one after the other with short commercial breaks. Occasionally there would be a music related programme on. I think Bevis and Butthead was the starting point for MTV moving away from the music videos due to its success. Bevis and Butthead was bought by other channels across the world and I think this made them alot of money. Over the past few years MTV has again sold programmes such as Jackass, Dirty Sanchez and The Osbournes. I think they have again made a lot of money this way and ... Read the complete review
