Advantages: Music Videos, Some good shows, like Brand New

Disadvantages: Reruns, Too many texting programmes, Need digital tv to get the best of MTV TV

MTV, MTV, MTV...where did you go wrong? Or should I say MTV UK & IRELAND??? Ever since the UK's answer to the original MTV was broadcast, my interest, and possibly many other people's, had decreased and decreased. At present the MTV UK & IRELAND channel have added American MTV shows to strengthen a once very weak schedule consisting of a mobile texting show every other hour. TRL (Total Request Live) and The Osbournes are two of the main shows to be broadcast on the channel. Even though TRL is one of the most viewed programmes in America at its full length of 2 hours, we are subjected to an edited hour long show with videos lasting 10 seconds. Jackass is another American show which shocked the UK audience but also made them cry with laughter. MTV have done a good job of showing every series....again..and again..and again! MTV's reruns of the same episodes have got me blowing a fuse simply because the gags have got less amusing and more annoying. This also goes for Cribs, Fanatic (which is hardly shown nowadays on MTV) and Celebrity Deathmatch (one of my favourites which I would prefer to watch as new episodes rather than repeats). In a brighter light, MTV is a great channel for music videos and does show some good programmes such as Brand New, Dismissed, and Diary Of.
In conclusion, MTV has a bright side but a bigger dark side, where the texting shows, reruns and 10 seconds videos relms. The fact is that in order to enjoy MTV to its fullest, you must have digital cable or satellite with 7 channels (including the VH1 channels). With them at least you can get the best of all music and a larger range of different shows.
