Advantages: Reserve games, in depth news

Disadvantages: No new first team action, news available elsewhere for free

I'm a big fan of the club, so I subscribed to MUTV, naturally.

There's lots of news on the club, interviews with players and staff and also regular features from some names from not too long ago in the clubs history. Also on offer here are classic matches from recent years and live reserve team games.

Almost all of the content is great for the dedicated fan, and I think the classic matches are great for people new to United. That said, I've not missed a game for a long time, so there's rarely anything that I haven't seen. The reserve team games can be interesting to watch, but with so much live football on offer I found myself watching more first team games from other clubs as I find it more interesting. The news content is pretty much available on the internet, though maybe not in video form. Anything major is on sports news websites so quickly after MUTV if not leaked before.

I think 20 years ago I'd have been glued to MUTV for every free minute unless the first team were live on another channel. Now though I have a family and a lot less time on my hands. I find myself hardly watching the channel and am considering stopping my subscription.

In the future I think channels like this will do well, but until they can show first team games live then they are just fodder. Big though United are in reputaion and history, only a couple of hundred of people work there, and so news is limited. If the channel showed all away games live, it would be a must, but that day is a long way off.

Summary: Bring on season tickets with away games in MUTV and this channel will be superb
