Advantages: great educational and fun shows

Disadvantages: A lot of the shows are mostly repeats

A few months ago i wrote a review on how my two daughters loved the Television channel Cbeebies, but times change and they have now developed a liking for Nick jnr because two of their favorite programmes are broadcast on here- Dora the explorer and Peppa pig. I of course limit the amount of TV they watch in a day, but whenever they have their TV it now always seems to be Nick Jnr that they want to watch.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Television, it is a spin off channel from the main channel Nickelodeon which has been running since the 90's and has had many famous programme's like the 'Rugrats' ' Sabrina the teenage witch' and so on. Nick jnr was brought out a few years ago and is aimed for more younger children roughly between the ages of one to six. It has both educational and fun programmes being aired with it's most popular shows being, Peppa Pig, Dora the explorer, and Go Diego Go.

Most of the programmes like other channels are normally repeats, but from time to time they do have new shows that come on and new episodes of older shows. They don't have any presenters that present the show, but occasionally have some characters that will introduce the next show coming up.

My daughters love 'Dora the explorer' and i don't have a problem with them watching the show because they have leaned so much from it, a few weeks ago before christmas she came out with the numbers one to three in Spanish! It took me a while to register what she had said, but after was slightly proud that my two year had started speaking bits of Spanish, as thats what Dora the explorer teaches in the programme.

The channel can be found on sky, free view, virgin media, and all other major broadcasters so it is widely available. There shows run quite late into the night as well and start very early in the mornings. They also have a website dedicated to the channel where children can do different activities regarding different shows, print out pictures and games to do etc.

It has certainly become popular in our household, and i remember watching the main Nickelodeon channel when i was a teenager to.

Summary: A great spin off channel to the main Nickelodeon station
