Nickelodeon is an American based television channel available on Sky Digital in the UK and primarily aimed at teenagers. I have never experienced any problems with the channel in general, it does not have particularly long advertising breaks, and I find the quality of the picture and the low number of technical difficulties make it quite a good channel. I thought I'd devote this review to briefly discussing some of my favourite shows on Nickelodeon. The following are not really in any particular order.
1. Sponge Bob Square Pants - This American made animated series has taken the world by storm, and I have heard that it is now becoming especially popular in places like Japan. It has become so successful that the Sponge Bob movie has been made and released, which proved to be very popular. The stories tell the life adventures of a sponge, and his best friend Patrick, and also his work at the underwater restaurant the "Crusty Crab", where he is a chef/patty flipper. His boss is a red money-loving crab, named Mr Krabs.
Whilst I know this may sound incredibly cheesy, it is actually a very good programme, which I feel teaches some very important morals. The character of Sponge Bob is extremely sociable and likeable, and I find that even adults can enjoy this cartoon, which sometimes has clips from real life.
2. Drake and Josh - An American Sitcom about two brothers, that are brought together when their parents get married. (They are not related). The funny thing is, they are the complete opposites of each other, yet they must coexist and learn to get along. Amazingly, they do get on very well, and at the end of each show, normally always are very close. The show follows there adventures, as they seem particularly prone to getting into trouble. I love Drake & Josh, it's a really funny, really interesting programme. Drake Bell also does the soundtrack, and occasionally sings on the show.
3. Zoey 101 - Jamie Lynn Spears stars as Zoey, a girl that goes to Pacific Coast Acamdemy, an amazing boarding school located on the American pacific coast in the state of california. The programme tells the tales of her closeby friends, Chase, Logan, Michael, Quinn, Lola and Nichole, as well as her little brother dustin, and Quinns boyfriend Mark. The show teaches many lessons about friendship and behaviour, though unfortunateky, I believe no new episodes are being filmed as Jamie Lynn Spears has retired for the time being, as she prepares to become a mother.
4. ICarley - Stars Miranda Cosgrove, possibly better known as Megan from Drake & Josh. The show is about Carley and her friends, and the online webcast show that they run. It features activities and fans, and they get up to some funny adventures, like looking for chicks that manage to escape from an incubator that they have used to hatch eggs. I don't think that this is the best programme on Nickelodeon, I have just never really been able to get into it, but it's certainly not disasterously bad, and being relatively new, it is still in the early stages and I'm sure that it will improve over time.
5. Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide - A kind of documentary on the behaviour of the creatures that inhabit and Amercian high school. Based around the life of Ned, it follows his dealings with Romance, Bullies and Work and never fails to land him in funny situations, that are incredibly amusing for the audience. He always takes some time at the end of each of his adventures to sum up what he has learned about surving in high school. It's quite a funny show, not my favourite, but there seem to be a lot of episodes and it's quite interesting when there isn't much else on.
These are just some of the shows that I find myself watching, as my little brother aways seems to tune in to this Channel. Nickelodeon seems to be a very good quality Channel with some great programmes. I highly recommend it.
Summary: I really like it, and respect it as a channel.
