Advantages: Good mix of programs
Disadvantages: Programs are repeated several times a day
If you have pre-school children and digital television, you really should check out Nick Jr. Unlike the Nickelodeon channel for older children, Nick Jr. is not full of America programs, simply there to fill time. It shows a mixture of new and classic children's programs, a good percentage of them being British. There are modern programs such as Bob the Builder, James the Cat and Thomas the Tank Engine. Some older programs, which us late 20's, early 30's parents will remember well-The Flumps, The Clangers, Paddington Bear, Mr Benn and King Rollo. And, my daughter's absolute favourite, Blue's Clues. This is a program which mixes live action and animation, and is about a man, his dog and all the other characters which live in his house, (it's better than it sounds!) The only slight disadvantage about it, is that like many other satellite and cable channels, it repeats the programs throughout the day. This means you have to be selective about what program your child watches when, or they may end up watching the same thing twice! However, as parents being selective about TV viewing is probably something we are doing anyway. So if your children are pre-school, or you want to see again some of those programs from your childhood, Nick Jr. on digital channel 606 is worth a look.
