TV Licence ... apparent and up to date, that becomes an attractive option. However if you don t pay your TV license like many say they haven t in favour of the internet and i-player; you should disconnect your TV from the areal because you may still get that dreaded knock on the door. When the TV companies start giving us value for money, I will feel happy to pay a licence fee, because it won t be long until we will have to subscribe and a tax will be put on that as well, but I may also look for options as many others have done. It is no good going to Sky because they still cost too much as it is, and although they have all the terrestrial channels, why pay for your licence twice?... The Hallmark Channel ... No it s not 24hrs of greetings cards, strangely there s no sign of any. Instead you ll find some great crime drama from the US. This is due in part to the channel being run by US television company NBC Universal. The majority of the time I m not satisfied by what s served up on UK tv with reality shows seemingly dominating the majority of the primetime schedule at the moment. Hallmark on the other hand caters for one of my favourite TV genres and a lot of it s evening programming is made up by the Law & Order franchise. Monday nights from nine sees three hours of Special Victims Unit. A hour long show that deals with a department of the NYPD where sexual crimes ... E4 ... not be tempted to watch this channel at all as its aimed mainly at a small and very specific audience in general, namely young adults, (although there are always exceptions to this) with possibly a slight Americanised culture, as the large majority of shows at peak times are American sitcoms such as, Friends-of which numerous episodes are shown daily, My name is Earl, Scrubs, How I met your mother and other programs like this are shown intermitently throughout the year, normally for a series at a time. That said E4 does have a small number of shows that are based in England that are easy to relate to and reflect certain cultures within our own country, such as Skins ...
