Advantages: Lots of choice, high quality goods

Disadvantages: Listening to the presenters opinions, price

I think that I may have had too much time just recently without my children around as I have found myself watching far too much television shopping!

QVC is shown on free-view and paid for cable/satellite packages. It shows you many items that you never knew existed and offers you the chance to buy them. They cover items such as; crafting, gardening, fashion, beauty, health etc.

They had a craft special a few weeks ago where for 2 hours everyday they looked at a specific craft idea such as decoupage or stamping and showed you loads of great kit that you would need to do it. They had the legend that is Dawn Bibby on for most of these shows with a presenter giving all the sales info and Dawn showing you just how to do the crafting. Beware that some of the presenters like to tell long boring stories about their own experiences with items!

Having started card making at the beginning of the year I was finding it hard to get hold of decoupage that wasn't all floral (for floral read old lady), Dawn showed a lovely kids decoupage set including pirates and spacemen, just right for all the little boys I wanted to make cards for! The kit consisted of step by step decoupage, backing papers and stickers.

Although QVC operate a free phone (0800) number for ordering I didn't know what the product code was so decided to look online. I must admit that it did take a while to find what I wanted on their system as not all the craft things are quite where you expect. However, I put the kit into my basket and went to check-out. I had to give them details to sign up so that I could easily order again and was sent an email with a password and log-in.

The kit was delivered within about 1 week and was amazing. The quality was fantastic and it really did feel like great value for money.

The downside for me with shopping on QVC is the postage. Although the postage and packaging is cheaper than on most other tv shopping channels starting at about £2.50 for the smaller items, there is no discount if you order a few different things. You have to pay separate postage for each item, I think that this is because sometimes things are sent directly from the manufacturer.

A few days after my order arrived also got a welcome pack from QVC giving me lots of information on how to shop with them in the future, also on the website I signed up to alerts to find out when other craft specials might be shown.

QVC is quite an expensive channel to buy from compared to it's rivals, however it has a really good money back guarantee, so you are able to return anything even if you have used it and found that it is not as expected, and the quality of its goods seem to be second to none and well worth what they are charging!

Summary: Have a look and see if something catches your eye, but don't buy too much!

My mum used to be obsessed with QVC! She would proudly say to me "I haven't bought anything from there for ages!" like she was going cold turkey!

Good review
