A decent shopping channel in general (QVC)

Advantages: Some good prices, fairly well presented, delivery times are ok

Disadvantages: The item i got was not presented well at all, some prices and P&Ps can be expensive

I have only ever bought once from QVC but i will sometimes watch the channel if there is nothing on or if i know they are showing something that may interest me.

The product i bought was The Tornado PC file transfer product in which you connect one of the usb sockets to one computer, and one to the other computer and it allows you to easily transfer files without the need for any software to be installed and you don't have to go back and forth with dvds or flash drives. The price was a little steep (sorry i can't remember the price now as it was a little while ago when i bought it) but it also game with a program that destroys files you want to get rid of on your computer and makes them untraceable so it is good for personal private documents.

Like with Ideal World, they do not take payment from my card type which is Solo so i had to use my parents card and paid them back for it. There was delivery on top of the price but i didn't mind as it was only about £3.
Anyway, about 4 days later it arrived. It did not arrive as i expected though. I expected it to come in its own labelled box with instructions but instead it just came in a plain brown cardboard box. In the box was the Tornado just like it is, no sort of wrapping or anything. There was a small sheet with instructions on and the file eraser program disk in a while sleeve.
The box was also a bit tatty and looked like it has been used before. I was actually wondering if they have sent me one of the Tornado's that they use on the show. I did contact them just to check and they told me that is how they are sent so i just hope they weren't lying to me.

Anyway, it all worked perfectly fine and looked new so i was worried about it.

So i was quite impressed with their delivery times, it was nothing special but it was quicker than they say it will be. They told me 5-7 days.

The channel itself usually seems perfectly fine. They show a whole range of products including electronics and gadgets, home ware, clothing and shoes and jewellery. Most of the presenters seem ok as well. Most of them usually seem to know what they are talking about though you do get them sometimes were they pretend to know about the product they are selling but you can tell they don't and that is when they always have the expert guest on so they can explain it all correctly to you.

They have one channel on Sky channel 640 (not sure if they have a channel on Virgin but i'm sure they do) and a channel on Freeview channel 16. Also on Sky they have an interactive red button feature which allows you to view certain products again and i think you can also order some products on there as well.
They also have a website www.qvcuk.com which shows all their products including images, more details and they often have video presentations in case you missed it on TV.

When it comes to their prices they are quite varied. Some prices can be excellent and seem very cheap where as others can be quite steep and the same product can be found elsewhere cheaper. It is the same with their P&P prices. Sometimes you might get a small item with a high P&P then you might get a large item with a low P&P, but this doesn't normally happen.
Another thing they do is easy pay which allows you to pay for some products in 2 or 3 stages, 1 payment a month. They usually do this on expensive products like televisions and computers, but lately, around christmas time they have started putting easy pay on items as low at £20. You do not pay any interest on this and only pay the one P&P so it is good for people who cannot afford to pay the full amount in one go.

I can see why QVC has done fairly well for itself as usually it seems very professional with some good presenters and some good products and it broadcasts live. Check it out sometimes if you can and see for yourself.
