Advantages: 1 of 2 UK shopping channels, has good presentation and presenters, great offers and account administration, even has Interactive TV and website services, very friendly company

Disadvantages: Does get a run for it's money from Shop! sometimes, and watching shopping channels full-stop is boring

QVC (which stands for Quality, Value and Convenience) is Britain's first TV shopping channel. The Americans had their own range of shopping channels for ages, as did other countries, and we were one of the last (I think) to catch on.
The channel which opened about 5/6 years now has some stiff competition from the likes of the new Shop! channel which arose on Digital TV, but QVC still retains it's edge in being the elder statesman of the two. Infact both aren't competitors in a weird sense, they both complement eachother as they have the same format, and products and prices that are superior in balance on both channels. QVC is better on jewellery, health, beauty and domestics, while Shop! is the best for consumer products, in my opinion.
The presentation of QVC is very subtle and soothing, and even though the presenters can get a tad to waffly and chatty, they know what they're talking about and are good TV salemen/women, they even invite in experts. The order lines, and account administration of QVC is brilliant aswell. They even have a website and an interactive TV feature on Digital TV, and loads of offers, discounts and product catalogues throughout the day.
Ordering is easy and can be done in many ways, they accept many payment methods (all good) and the ordering information is all laid out nicely on screen for each item with order number, description, price, postaging and packaging, and where and how to order. QVC is a very friendly and customer-orientated service, well done!
QVC is indeed worth it's unabbreviated name sake, and along with Shop! (which it still has the edge over, somewhat) it'll continue to be of the UK's premiere TV shopping channels for a long time need. Check it out sometime!
