I love the Sci-Fi channel and i can sit and watch it for hours on end, thats because im a geek and i have a strange obsession with low budget disaster movies and the cheesey low budget film from the Asylum Production company that brought us such classics as Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus most recently. The Sci-Fi channel was first broadcast on British TV in 1995 and is the sister company of the American channel SyFy. The Sci Fi Channel in the UK is actually quite a different animal from its parent version in the US, where the broadcaster was born. It was originally launched in 1992 with great expectations and hopes from fans of science fiction and fantasy, as it was intended to showcase the library of sci fiction and fantasy holdings of studio giants Paramount and Universal Pictures. Its board of directors initially looked quite promising, with boffins such as Gene Roddenberry and Isaac Asimov on it. As a result, initially it brought legendary greats back to the small screen, including series such as the original Dark Shadows, Star Trek, Night Gallery, the original Flash Gordon film ... Last night Sci-Fi showed the first episode of a three-part production of Frank Herbert's "Dune". Anyone who saw the David Lynch 1984 film of the book may have anticipated this development with some trepidation. Let's face it, the film was a disaster. I had read the book and even I had trouble following the plot. So much was left out that what remained made very little sense. Well, good news, so far the TV version, produced by Richard Rubenstein and Mitchell Galin and directed by John Harrison, looks like a very good effort at retaining the essential plot from approaching a thousand page book, in what will end up being six hours of ... .. to another network. I wanted to let everyone who is a fan of Crossing Over with John Edward know that he has been moved. He's moving on up . Where is goes is still up in the air. Could it be Fox, NBC,CBS , daytime , nighttime? No official word has been released yet but wherever he goes I'll follow. Crossing Over is a show about physic s and death and crossing over. Everyone or most everyone associates death with finality and it is not. Ther eis something beyond death . I'm not exactly sure what but with John's help I am understanding that my loved ones CAN see me from the other side. John Edward has given medium and ... Read the complete review

When I come home from work and after the kids have gone to bed I love to unwind by watching the sci-fi channel. Sheer bliss. I have been into sci-fi for many years and the style of programming has just got better. I love Babylon 5. Now they are showing one of my fave programmes which I first saw on holiday, my wife has also become addicted to the channel and it takes alot to get her to drop her soaps. The schedules are great, good, wide variety of programmes covering every bit of the sci-fi arena. Pity they don't have Star Trek but never mind. I like watching the films and they occasionally play films I have not watched for years which is ... Read the complete review
