--My bad experience--

In my opinion Setanta sports really are a rip-off, the reason I say this is that I have had a really bad experience with them when we renewed our subscription last year.

My story started when I had my renewal letter for the following year. I looked at the renewal price and it said that I was to pay £180, this was ok but, they were advertising that all customers were getting it for £10 per month, and unless my calculations were wrong that comes to £120! I immediately phoned their customer services department who really weren't bothered in hearing what I had to say, but assured me that I would get a refund. After the next visa came through there was no refund, so again I phoned Setanta. I was told that the package was at the right price but I wasn't getting a refund, I asked to speak to a manager and they refused to allow me to do that! I might add that I work in a call centre, and we would never dream of treating our customers like that. I ended up loosing my temper, which is not like me at all, and I finally got to speak to a manager. I was then told that I had to write in as they could not process refunds over the telephone.

I sent the letter registered post and they still told me that they hadn't received it, even though you can check the signature on the internet on the post office website. After many more telephone calls and letters, the only satisfaction I got was to speak to a friend that works there and he advised me that I wasn't the only one that had these problems and Setanta didn't want to refund the money that they had taken extra. My friend ended up sending a form to request a refund and this took 5 days for me to get a reply and I got my refund.

I never got the whole refund of £60 I received a little over £45. This meant that I was out of pocket for the subscription and it cost me round about £20 for all the telephone calls.

I will never go back to Setanta again, not after all the trouble that I had. It's just not worth it. But it's up to you to make up your own mind I guess.

Summary: will never have Setanta again

It does feel like Setanta is stilla distant subsidary of Sky and the latest ruling by the European parliament to break Sky up is why they are there.

Top review!
