Advantages: Shows saturday evening premiership football

Disadvantages: Boring commentators and lack of big matches being shown

Setanta Sports has basically become the equivalent of what premiership plus channel use to be a few years back, in that it tends to show low key secondary matches.

All the big matches are still screened on the main skysports channel, and it is just saturday evening 5.15 kick offs and Monday Night football that setanta shows, so it begs the question why skysports do not just simply screen these additional matches on their own channel! The commentators on setanta are so bad and do not know how to make constructive comments on a game, but all they end up doing is repeating the same thing again and again!

Craig Burley is an awful commentator. It is puzzling as to why they chose him, considering he was a huge flop during his playing career, who is he to comment on how good other footballers are! The fact he had to move to Celtic just so he could win the Scottish League tells you everything as to how bad a player he was, that he could not hack it in the big leagues.

Setanta Sports did an excellent coverage of the IPL cricket league, and this seems to be their forte. They should look to get rights to show cricket all year round from the sub-continent, as this would generate a lot of viewers. Otherwise Setanta Sports is a rip off subscription of £100 a year for essentially only 1 or 2 football matches a week.

Summary: Setanta must cover the big box office games

When I had Sky first it was all for free, then a charge was brought in for films, then sport, the quality of television has degraded to such an extent it does not resemble anything as the quality television in the 1950’s - 80’s and this is the way it is going. You will pay more but the quality will degrade, as quantity not quality is the only issue, which equals profit. Therefore live programs such as football will be made as cheaply as possible and cost to the company providing the programs will be the only issue therefore, expect nothing and this will get worse if we do not do something about it, either not subscribe or have free view but what choice is that?

Im still convinced Murdoch quietly owns Setanta or at least has the option to buy it.
