Advantages: More action from the greatest league in the world!
Disadvantages: Category B games only but makes no difference if you are a dedicated fan
Despite reading a few poor reviews, especially regarding their customer service, I actually really rate Setanta Sports.
You can receive Setanta either through purchasing a viewing card compatible with digital freeview boxes or by purchasing it as an add-on to your exisitng Sky subscription, which is the format I have it on and to be honest, their customer service couldn't have been more helpful when I was setting it up on the day of an England international that I desperately wanted to see. Within two hours of putting the phone down to Mr Setanta, the channel was up and running and ready to watch!
Setanta's main calling card is live football, especially now that they have secured coverage of Premiership, FA Cup and England away matches, as well as German Bundesliga, Dutch Eredivisie and French Ligue 1 football, in both live and highlights format. For any dedicated football fan, especially those fans of the 'big four' Premiership clubs (Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal & Liverpool) Setanta is a must.
Although Premiership coverage is usually category B games. eg. Man Utd vs Blackburn, rather than class A; Man Utd vs Chelsea, Setanat provides a decent viewing experience for those fans who want to follow their side everytime they are on television. And to be honest, at approx. £12-13 a month, it's probably cheaper than going down the pub to watch the game given that it's poor etiquette to watch without buying a few drinks, especially if you're sharing the subscription cost with housemates as I am. While Setanta's commentators and presenters are slightly inferior to Sky Sports, I see it more as a complementary product rather than a competitor to Sky Sports.
The coverage is certainly good enough and they often show a range of other sports such as boxing, which is good to dabble in and out of from time to time. Overall, for those that love football, especially Premier League football and decent overseas leagues, Setanta is well worth it!
Summary: 17:15 on Saturdays and 7:45 Monday nights have never been so good!
