Consumer choice for laughs (Shop!)

Advantages: very funny, some decent bargains, happy presenters

Disadvantages: no real schedule, some real tat, no remote buying facilty

Okay right off the bat I'm going to say that I have never bought anything from this channel and never intend to so I can't offer any opinion on their level of service. But what i can do is offer my opinion on the channel in general.

Shop can be found on Channel 19 on the ITV Digital network. Throughout the day you can tune into presenters trying to sell you wonderful goods. Now unintentionally this channel is one of the funniest things on the whole of digital TV. The ways products are sold is completely simple, the sale pitches are scripted to cater for the complete idiots amongst us. For instance you have a video recorder for sale.

SALESMAN-

"And as you can see it has a rectangle slot here at the front so you can put video tapes in, it also has a function to rewind tapes fatser so you don't have to wait as long"

You get the general idea. I find it amazing that these people can keep a straight face while selling as some of the stuff is pure trash. A month ago we were already being shown Christmas ornaments such as singing animatronic santas in gold plaid costumes and movement like their colostomy bag has just exploded. The asking price for such an amazing item ?

It's hard to know when to tune in on Shop as they aren't very forthcoming with what being broadcast. The only way to know is to watch continuosly and the only people that would do that are those who spent the last 24 hours with a huge case of the munchies.

But having said that you can get a bargain once in a while on the small things like blank video tapes. All you have to do is get on the blower and place your order. It's that simple. So far I am unaware of the facilty to order straight through your remote but I'm sure it will come eventually.

ng a smile to your face for all the wrong reasons. These are just some of the reasons why tuning into Shop! can be better than the endless repeats that the joys of cable/digital TV can offer.
