Advantages: The Simpsons and Prison Break
Disadvantages: Ads - Startrek and documentaries about sharks
Just another Virgin customer to recieve Sky 1 in the last few months so why not give it a review eh? :D.
I used to have Sky 1 on my old cable box a good 4 or 5 years when there were only 51 channels I could get. Back then the only reason I watched Sky 1 was for the Simpsons, there really was nothing else I enjoyed on the channel.
But what can I say now... After getting Sky 1 back I can say with a smile on my face how much I missed it. One of the main reasons I missed it was the shows it has on in the evening, especially Prison Break.
I used to watch this on a streaming site with constant buffering and driver problems so it was more a relief to be able to watch it without interuption, apart from them stupid ads of course.
I have almost forgotten about ads to be honest, anything I want to watch which is not on the BBC I simply set to record and fast forward the breaks, nothing wrong with that is there?
I have read on a few other reviews about the daytime television not being the greatest on Sky 1 and I tend to agree. I browse the channels Sky 1, 2 and 3 when there is nothing on and I see alot of documentaries about sharks :s and alot of star trek marathons.
If I was asked now if I would pay extra to get Sky 1 I would. It does have some very good shows on there (Noels are you smarter than a 10 year old) and the like, I understand their audience is more likely to be watching in the evening and can therefore understand Sky not paying to host popular programs during the daytime, it would be nice however :)
Overall i'm very happy about recieving Sky 1 and have very little to be grumpy about seeing as i'm not paying anything extra for it. All I have to do now is wait till Tuesday to watch Prison Break :(.
Summary: More good than bad
