I've been using Sky for nearly 10 years, and around 6 months ago we upgraded to Sky+ HD. I had been interested in the recording and pausing features, but as we had recently purchased a 42" HD TV then it became more of a necessity than anything else, which is my first point.

If you are thinking about getting a large (30" +) TV, you can really see the difference between the standard definition and high definition channels. The clarity and sound quality really is in a different league, and an entirely different stratosphere to most freeview channels. However, the HD feeds are currently quite few in number (only around 25 out of 600), which may deter those who already have Sky+ from upgrading simply for the high def.

Another less likable feature is the new planner. There's an old saying - if it ain't broke, don't fix it; unfortunately the powers that be at BSkyB have never heard it. The new planner (modelled to look like most common freeview planners) is very poor compared to the older, simpler layout and is much slower when navigating also.

Despite these drawbacks, Sky+ HD is by far the best satellite TV option around and, depending on your subscription, is well worth the money. 7.8/10.
