Advantages: Excellent coverage and presenters

Disadvantages: Some of the 'breaking news' aint quite 'breaking news'

Sky News is a fantastic channel and is probably my most-watched channel, and certainly the most reliable News channel out there. I would look to Sky News before i would look to BBC or anything similar.

Sky News' coverage of anything from 9/11 to Obama's presidency and inaugaration has been excellent. The range of presenters on board (including Eamonn Holmes and Kay Burley) are excellent and and put real experience into the presentation. They are also very affable and make good presenters in general - again, far better than anything from BBC or similar.

Sky News offers very good news broadcasts as well as sport, and occasionally shows 'specials' such as war coverage (they did a similar 'special' on Afghanistan) and presidential inaugarations (well, every four years).

One of the most frustrating things on Sky News is that EVERYTHING is 'breaking news'! So the ticker on the bottom of the screen will often show some really rubbish news.

That said, the channel cant be beaten.
