Advantages: Quick Updates, Good Presenters, News Reporters & Journalists, Sky Active, Simple, Informative
Disadvantages: Not Always Accurate, Kay Burley Can Be Annoying
Sky News is an award winning, number one news channel on TV, which I use everyday. It's purely a news channel, but there are many adverts every now and then to give breaks between news bulletins as well as weather and more. Sky News has many presenters including Eamonn Holmes and Kay Burley on weekdays and Gilian Joseph and Mark Longhurst on weekends.
You get repeats of the headlines every 15 minutes throughout the day, 24/7. The news is usually presented in order from the most important to least important. There is a panel at the bottom of the screen, which has breaking news updates running. This is really useful as you can look here and read what comes across the screen to know the latest breaking news, even if the main story on the live desk is different.
Sky News really does get all the latest news first. You can rely on them to give you breaking news, almost as soon as it happens. There is also a live and accurate digital clock display as well as a box to tell you when a report is live or exclusive. Sky News is always in touch with reporters and journalists around the world and whilst these interviews are being held, you can see the title for the story on the screen clearly.
Sky News also broadcasts weather reports for both the UK and Europe. These are quite accurate and similar to other reports online and on other channels. Quantas Airlines have been sponsoring the weather report for a long time now and I like their catchy phrases like 'We soon expect some marmalade, spreading from the west' as it links both the weather and airline together.
Sky news has different things such as the live desk and business report. The live desk is where you will see one of the presenters showing all the latest news. On the business desk, you will see how to FTSE 100 is changing as well as currency exchange rates and other business news. Using the interactive sky active red button on your remote control for Sky, you can access the active screen where you can choose which report to watch and also read about other reports. Here, you can also view the weather and currency exchange rates. It's all very useful and you will find everything news-related on Sky. It's a great channel and has never failed in letting me know the latest news, promptly.
Thanks for reading,
