Sky Plus - what a great invention!

As someone who doesn't watch a lot of television but has programmes that are firm favourites, I find Sky Plus is ideal for my needs. It means I can be more selective in my viewing.

Sky Plus allows me to record forty hours of television and keeps it for as long as I want. It has a further option to keep a programme 'locked in' to the planner so that it can't be accidentally deleted - how I wish that option was available with the humble video recorder!

It is simplicity itself to operate. For a start, when you use the remote control you can see on the screen all the channels by scrolling down the pages. You can jump ahead up to seven days which is ideal if you really want to plan your whole week's television. I have yet to do do that because it seems a bit sad!

You can easily set the box to record and a real bonus is the 'series link' function - press that button and an entire series will record with no further input from you. I think this is just about its best feature. Programmes are easy to delete, too, just at the push of a button.

Using the remote control you can fast forward and rewind recorded programmes at 2, 6, 12 or thirty times the normal speed and, also, you can 'live pause' a programme should your viewing be interrupted by a phone call or you need to stop watching to do something else. This feature pauses live TV as you watch and keeps it on hold until you are ready to start viewing again.

Currently, Sky Plus is available for between £75 and £150 depending on other Sky products you may have, such as broadband, Sky Talk and so on, or it is available free to existing Sky customers.

All in all, I thoroughly recommend Sky Plus having had to be convinced by other family members that it was worth having.

Summary: A great invention that will enhance your television viewing
