Advantages: One touch button recording

Disadvantages: Can't copy it onto a disc once recorded

I have had Sky in my house since I moved in three years ago but last year I decided to upgrade to Sky Plus as they had recently scrapped the £10 per month charge for using it which put me off.

At the time a lot of people were ringing up and saying they wanted to cancel the contract they had with Sky and getting free installation and box which at the time was £129 for both.

I wasn't as lucky as some of these people, I rang up and threatened to leave saying BT Vision were offering me a great deal (not true ahem) and they offered me the box and installation for £49 so I took them up on the offer and the Sky+ box and set up was installed into my house a few days later.

I had a DVD recorder prior to getting this but for the love of god I couldn't not get it to record any Sky channels so this was the first thing I was excited about when I got Sky Plus.

Sky+ is so easy to use, if you are watching a programme and want to record it you just press the R button on the remote and it starts straight away or if you need to nip to the loo or want to make a cup of tea you just press pause and you can catch up when you get back.

I use this function a lot especially during cooking meals or if the phone rings, its very handy.

Also if you are watching a programme and didn't hear something correctly or looked away you can just rewind even if your not recording, Sky is constantly recording what you are watching although it doesn't save the programme to the hard drive.

You can go through the Sky Planner and pick programmes to record by highlighting and pressing Red and you can record a whole series by pressing the Green button but not all series have this option available.

You can record two channels at a time but not watch another although you can watch a recorded programme off the hard drive at the same time or record one channel and watch another, the Sky dish will be fitted with 2 signal wires to enable this to happen.

You can also set up programmes to record using your mobile phone and the Sky website so if your at work and remember that you have forgotten to record Cash In The Attic you need not worry you can still catch this amazing TV show!

My only negative is that once its on your hard drive you cannot put a programme onto disc which is a shame as sometimes I record things and then want to watch them on another TV when my OH is on the Xbox.

If you have Sky and don't have Sky Plus or a Hard Drive recorder already I recommend you get it, I couldn't be without it now.

Summary: Never miss your fav TV again.
