Advantages: ability to pause, rewind and fastforward, record programmes
Disadvantages: none
Having had Sky for many years the Sky box we had was starting to just get a little dated as it was moving at a snails pace and when going throught the programme guide to see whats on it would take an age for it to flick over each day that you wanted to see. So it was decided to get a new box and boy was i glad I did as the Sky Plus is one very good piece of kit.
The Sky Plus box really is quite impressive the ability to pause and rewind TV is a brilliant feature that really does come in handy, say for instance you are watching a programme and you have to go away for whatever reason then all you do is simply press the pause button on the controller and it will say that way until you come back and press play, it really is so very simply and really is a great feature that is very simple to use. And if you do want to catch up with the live tv again then you either fast forward it or simply press the stop button to bring it to where it should be at.
The ability to record and store your own programmes is also another great feature, it is also very simple to use by going to the required programme that will be recorded and just simple press the red record button to record that particular programme it is very simple to use, you will only be able to record two programmes a the same time though if you are watching one of them while recording but I have never found this to much of a problem at all.
The box also allows up to around 40 hours to be recorded on to it which is quite a sizable chunk and there is also the option of deleting those old programmes that you recorded before if you do need more space at all. There is also another neat option called the series link where you click on that specific programme and it will then look to record all the rest of the episodes in that series. There is also another neat option called anytime tv which has programmes that are already recorded that you can access at anytime to watch which is another neat addition to it all.
The controller itself is quite similar to the old Sky controller but with the added options of being able to pause, rewind and record tv, it is all very studry and does work very well.
The Sky Plus box itself will cost you around £99 pounds although there might be offers going around at specific times so you might get a good offer at the right time. It really is worth it though and it is something I cant recommend enough.
Summary: Sky + is something you will not be disappointed with
