A good "addition" to your life (Sky Plus (Sky+))

Advantages: Records with ease Disadvantages: Series plus is a complicated and a waste of time I have had Sky Plus for a year now, and I can't think of a single night where I haven't used it. The easiest way to explain Sky Plus is that it's basically just like the old VHS recorders but made so much simpler. You just press record and the programme you're watching starts recording. Or if you're off out you can just go to the Sky guide and select what show you want to record and hit record. Because the recorder is part of the Sky box, it removes any confusion of using separate channels on VHS or even more modern DVD or Hard drive recorders. It boasts that it can pause and rewind live telly, which is all good and true most of the time. But sometimes when you select to rewind the programme, the box actually hasn't been recording the programme so you can only go back a mere few seconds. But the live pause function normally works instantly, and almost always restarts playing. Some bad things from the Sky Plus box is the "Series Link" function boasted by the advertisers. It works fine, but it will record every single episode of a show. For example, when I select Eastenders on BBC1, it will record each nightly episode, and then the same episode repeated at the night time on BBC3, and then the same episode again on the omnibus on BBC1 on Sunday. So in the end you get the same episode 3 times! I avoid using the series link feature, but the rest of the features are a lifesaver to my love of television and my social life. Summary: Great lifesaver! |
