Advantages: Hard disk, rewind TV, more channels

Disadvantages: Not easy to port to PC

I have just got Sky and Sky plus after never having a digital recorder, and having been used to Virgin for the past 4 years. I can say that Sky plus isa great invention and I wish I'd got it sooner.

The first thing I like about sky as opposed to Virgin, is the TV channels on the basic package are better and there is a lot more choice, plus the TV guide is far easier to use.

The Sky plus box looks great, a silvery white colour with a cool light up dial on the front. It reminds me of other modern gadgets like the Xbox 360 and the Wii. The remote control is cool too, and it actually contols my tv too, so now I only need one remote control. It is really easy to use.

The sky man only took an hour to install it all, and it was up and running in an evening. The sky box is so simply installed without much fuss, and I can't believe that all that information comes from a satellite.

The great bit is recording TV programs. For the last 10 years, using a video player has been such a pain thatI've not recorded anything, and I have never had a DVD recorder. With the Sky plus box, all I have to do is mark what I want recorded and it will save it to the 160gb hard disk.

I can replay any recordings whenever I like, and there is an indicator as to how much disk space I have left so I know when I have to delete old programs to make space for new ones.
Two channels can be recorded at once, or you can watch one channel and record another which is something I was never able to do with a video recorder.
Another great feature is a series link, so you can get every episode in sequence without having to manually press record each time.

Rewinding live TV is a great feature, because there have always been times when watching something that someone has spoken over the top of the TV, the doorbell has gone or the phone has rang, even times when someone says something so outrageous on a program that you wish you could wind it back just to be sure you heard them right. You can rewind up to 30 minutes of live TV as long as you have not changed channel.

I got a deal where I paid nothing for installation and nothing for the sky plus box, so really all I pay for is the rental each month which is actually less than my old provider and for a much wider service.
