Advantages: Never miss Eastenders again
Disadvantages: no service when there's a storm, occaisionly words don't match mouths
Once you get Sky Plus that's it you will never go back. We used to have Telewest which I think is now Virgin but then we moved and they didn't service our area. I rang Sky and they sold the Sky Plus service to me. At the time my husband was not impressed with me for sigining up to Sky at £46 a month when we'd just doubled our mortgate but my argument was that as we would be staying in more we might as well stay in, in style.
I have the full package and its just the best thing. I could not live without Sky Plus now. Unless of course I was single, mortgage free and out every night and had no time for telly (like my old life used to be !!)
I am Eastenders mad and love all dramas like Desparate Housewives, Shameless, Ugly Betty etc. I can't keep track of what's on so I have all my favourite programmes on the planner and I have put them on the series link so I never miss a program. Its brilliant. If you need a wee or want a cup of tea you can pause the telly. If you didn't quite hear what the newsreader said or if the phone rings or the doorbell goes you can rewind live tv. Its just brilliant.
Sometimes the box freezes so you have to turn it all off at the mains and then put it back on. It takes about 5 minutes to reset. At midnight it turns itself off on the power saver to save electricity. You mustn't switch it off at the mains when you go away - if you do - it will not record your desired programs. We don't have an ariel now and if we have a storm we loose the signal for a while. This has only happened about 3 times in the last 2 years so not that bad.
I've heard complaints about people loosing their recorded programs but I haven't had this. Sometimes when you watch a film the words don't quite match the mouth (remember Heidi when you were a kid (applies to children of the 80s!)) I did hear of this complaint on watchdog a couple of years ago but its I've only seen it a few times. If you have a DVD recorder you can also download your planner recordings onto a DVD.
If you haven't got SKY PLUS and are thinking about it then I say go for it. Its the best thing for telly addicts and couch potatoes!
Summary: Sky Plus is great
