Advantages: Pause, rewind, record two chanels whilst watching recordings. Fantastic

Disadvantages: Our system fails occassionally but is easy to reset

The best thing to happen to TV since colour! My wife and I love it, ours is used everyday of the year.

This system gives you the ability to pause live TV, great whilst you make a coffee or answer the phone.

Watch one channel while recording another.

Rewind the programme you are watching, brilliant if you miss something and an excellent feature for the sports fan, it is like have your own video referee.

Browse through a week's worth of TV with the on-screen programme guide, selecting which shows to record.

Follow a series - The excellent 'Series link' can be used to record episodes of your favourite series automatically, keeping track of schedule changes, and avoiding repeats. We find this feature so useful when we are away on holiday.

Record two different channels at the same time, while watching a recorded show.
Fantastic for skipping adverts and the boring bits you don't want to see.

Sky Plus will change the way you watch TV - no need to worry about setting the video recorder to keep up-to-date with a series. The hard drive holds around 40 hours of TV so it holds a lot of TV time before you have to delete things. Amazingly though we now find occasion where we still can't watch things as we are already recording two other programmes (I think Sky have made us into addicts) we then find ourselves trawling through the guide to see if one of them is being shown again later in the week, but you cant look very far in advance when recording two shows Arrrrraaaahhhhh!!!!! Still a lot of Sky channels then have a plus one hour channel for catching up. TV has never been so good or so complicated.
It is well worth looking out for offers for Sky Plus for reduced costs on installation, we got free installation with our package a few years back, and they often do promotions for recommending a friend. There are also upgrades such as high definition and multiform, but be warned it can start to get expensive.
The only problem we have with our system is that it does crash every now and then, when this first happened Sky told us to take our card out and unplugged the unit from the wall and leave it for a minute before wiping the card on a clean dry cloth, apparently the system sometimes suffers because of static build up (not sure if this is just earlier models as our is a few years old) and they recommend trying this for most problems. I must say it has always started after we have done this (taking a few minutes to reset itself) sometimes simply switching it on and off at the wall does the trick.
Great system but makes you watch even more TV because you can.

Summary: Fantastic system

I too wouldnt be without Sky+ now. As for the system crashing, ours does that every now and then, and we have only had ours a year.

Didn't know why I would need it before I got it, and now don't know what to do without it. Good write-up. 86)
