Advantages: record, pause and rewind live tv

Disadvantages: lose a bit of quality

where would i be without sky plus? i have no idea! one the genius inventions of the last decade for me.
Sky plus lets you:
record programmes at the click of a button
rewind live tv
pause live tv
record 2 programmes at once
record a full series at once
let you watch a programme you have recorded while recording another
gives you a full 8 day tv guide

Plus many more options to do.
The ability to rewind live tv is superb, say youve missed something as your wife was chatting away, just click pause until shes shut up or rewind to play again the bit you missed. You can choose how long you can rewind it for in the options, up to a maximum of 60 minutes, which is great if someone knocks on your door and you forget to press pause or get chatting away, click rewind and hey presto find the bit you last saw and continue watching.

To record a show you can either just hit the R button to record the sho your watching if you need to go out, flick through the channels along the bottom and press R when selected to record that or go to the tv guide and record a show or even a full series from there.

Once the show is recorded you can find it on your planner which is located on the tv guide, from here you can view shows, or delete them.

You can also view information on the programme by clicking the i button, this will bring up details of how long is left and brief description of the programme your watching.
The ability to fast forward is great aswell, if you dont want to watch the adverts of a progamme youve recorded, then press the fast forward buttong and skip past, it has different speeds so you dont go sailing past the part you want to start from.

Overall, its a great addition to the tv, saves a lot of time and hassle, gives you the option to watch programmes when you want and the ability to skip adverts is an added incentive.
