Advantages: easy to use, great features

Disadvantages: end up recording everything

I have had my sky+ fitted about 2 months ago now and it has made such an impact on me that i felt the need to share my experience with others. The day it was fitted i was unlucky enough to get an older model of sky+ box which really annoyed me as it did not have the 160 hd or the anytime feature, which i will tell you about later.

Anyway i left it about a week and i rang up sky and said the box was freezing up and shutting down at random times, and considering i had only had it a week i was not best pleased. They were really helpfull and said they would send an engineer out as soon as possible, 4 days later and an engineer came out, he took one look at the old box and said i'll get you a newer model from the van, finally i got what i wanted in the first place ( cheeky i know but why should i get an old model ).

Now for those that dont know sky+ is basically a sky box with a built in recorder. With newer models of sky+ ( which ive now finally got ) you get 160gb hard drive, which is split into 2 80gb sections. The first 80gb is for yourself to record whatever you wish and you can record up to 40 hours of tv, the other 80gb is reserved for sky's anytime service. Sky anytime is a great feature, what sky do is download a pick of the weeks tv for you to watch, some of it you will like some you wont, if there is something there you like you can also copy it over to your part of the hard drive to keep. This is also a free service from sky, although you can only watch programes for the channels that you subscribe to.

There are some great features on sky+, you can record two diffrent programes at the same time whilst watch something you have already recorded. You can pause and rewind live tv which is great if your interupted during one of your favourite programes. Before i had sky+ i had a video recorder which was an absolute nightmare i couldn't work the timer so ended up missing most of the tv i loved. Recording on sky+ is a doddle, just press all channels on your sky remote go through the week and find the programes you like and press the red record button and that's it, all your programes that are recorded and to be recorded are available to view through your sky planner.

Simple easy to use and i never miss a thing now.

5 out of 5 stars

Summary: great devise that will change the way you watch tv for ever
