Hundreds of channels and still nothing I want to watch! Anyone else have this problem or is it just me?!?
I love sky plus, I'm amazed that they didn't invent it sooner really. The brilliant thing about sky+ is that you can record things on your sky box to watch another time. So for the times when you can't find anything to watch, there is the option to watch something you've recorded from another time. It's similar to having a video or DVD recorder which allows you to tape from sky, but with sky+ it only takes the click of one button to set it to record rather than having to mess around with a video recorder. I love this!
Watching a really great programme? Eastenders characters just about to reveal all? The doorbell rings... No need to panic with sky+! It has the feature to pause or rewind live television. I find this feature so brilliant! If you want to get up to make a cup of tea, or check on dinner all you have to do is press the pause button and you won't miss a thing while you're gone! All you have to do is press play when you return and it carries on from where you got to. If an annoying member of the family is talking through a television show you're trying to watch (perhaps that's just me!) then you can rewind the part you missed. I'm not entirely sure how much recorded television you can fit on the box, I'm told it's 80gb, but I still don't really know how much that is! At the moment I've got a mixture of about 50 TV programmes and films on there and it's nowhere near full.
There is also a feature called 'Anytime' on the sky box which can be accessed via the 'TV guide' button on the remote and then by scrolling across. This is basically a bank of TV programmes, sport and film that are available for watching at anytime (as the name suggests!) There isn't a huge selection, but it gives you a few more options if you don't know what to watch. The only issue I find with this is that a lot of the programmes are in HD and as I don't have a skyHD box, I can't watch them. Compared to Virgin medias catch up service, this is nowhere near as good.
Another advantage of sky+ is that you can record 2 programmes at the same time, something you wouldn't have been able to do with a video recorder. However, when you're recording two, you have to then watch one of the things being recorded or something you've already recorded.
I don't use this feature, but it is also possible to remote record. Which means you can set things to record on your sky box from your iphone or computer.
A disadvantage I will note with sky in general, and I don't know if others have this issue, is that you have to have a satellite dish installed and during windy or rainy weather we tend to get disruptions to our viewing and sometimes our sky television will cut out altogether which isn't good!
Overall, I love sky+ and don't know how I coped without it!
Also on ciao as princessbuttercup.
