Advantages: Great movies 24Hr, with no adverts during the movie
Disadvantages: Some really poor films on at times
What a great channel this is. To descibe it only really takes 3 words: Pure Movie Channel. And thats it. The premier channels, there are 5 in all, show pure movies, all day long. And NOTHING ELSE. Ok, so they have adverts, but noone watches them, because all the adverts are inbetween films when noone is actually watching it. That is the thing I love about the premier channels (and moviemax for that matter), they do not show adverts during the film. Absolutely brilliant. Although I do not understand why they bother with this advertisement, as noone will watch the channel during times when the movies are not on. So, what are the movies like? Well, admittably it is not really possible to have 24 hour good movies over 5 channels, so some movies really are quite "b". Saying that though, there is always a good movie on in the evening, on at least one of the channels. As the name suggests, these channels show alot of premiers, and many of them are quite new. There main premier is on every Saturday night, and every premier since I have had these channels has been good. To give you an idea of the "newness" of the films, they are showing Star Wars episode 1 this Saturday (April 7th 2001), and last week they showed American Pie. So quite new then, and two very good films. Of course because there are so few adverts on Premier, this means that the channels are subcribtion, and this means shelling out money. So is it worth paying £8 (my deal) for it? Well, yes. I say, on average I watch about 3 films a week, all of which are well known and ones I really wanted to see, but missed. Ok, £2.66 for a film (averaged) is quite expensive, but you can always watch more films if you like. The great thing about Premier is that if there is absolutely nothing on any other channels, then there will be on Premier. It really impresses your friends, as the films on it will n
ot be on terrestrial TV for at least another two years. Definately worth it, especially if you do not have to pay for it! If you have Sky, then you ought to have Premier, it is worth the subcription.
