Advantages: Quick on the pulse for news stories and Soccer Saturday is great

Disadvantages: BREAKING NEWS is often not really news

Sky Sports News is a 24hr Sports News channel which has established itself as the longest running and probably most popular/well known Sports news channel out there.

I personally like the format and design of the Sky Sports News screen, although it isnt to everyone's tastes as it is very 'busy'. The main screen (showing the presenters) is situated in the top left and is the biggest part of the screen, the rest is divided between rolling sports news (across different tabbed sports at the bottom i.e. cricket, football etc) and tables/leagues (and sometimes scores) on the right hand side.

Gillette Soccer Saturday is essential Saturday afternoon viewing for any football fan and consists of host Jeff Stelling and a panel of experts reviewing the upcoming matches, and then reporting on the matches as the games actually take place. This is the best programme on Sky Sports News, the rest of SSN tends to be bulletins and news reports on a rolling basis, though there are sometimes 'specials' show on there.

One frustrating thing (and probably the only real complaint) is that everything is 'breaking news' - much the same as Sky News. If Ronaldo stubs his toe: BREAKING NEWS.... you watch to expect something exciting to have happened and it is often rubbish.

On the whole one of my most watched channels if i'm not in the mood to actually 'watch' a program all the way through.

Summary: SSN is well worth a watch if you are into sport
