As somebody who doesn't have Sky television but does have a digital Tv I find Sky Sports news totally invaluable.

On digital it is on Channel 83 and is a 24 hour sports news network, it covers every sport imaginable and it moves presenters around so they only cover 4-6 hour shifts before they are changed.

It is great to wake up first thing in the morning and switch this on to catch up on any breaking news, when I get home I switch this on to catch up on any news.

Sky Sports News has the advantage of being able to quickly show goals and highlights from football around the world covered by Sky. It covers all sports with presenters talking through the news but with running commentary at the bottom of the days news in each particular sport and also any breaking news. The sports are covered fairly and without prejudice, the presenters are knowledgable and know their sports really well and aren't totally male orientated which is great too.

In the evening if there are a number of football matches on they will bring in some ex footballers, now pundits and ask them to watch the matches and commentate on anything thats happening, while not as good as watching a match it is fun and better than teletext.

The best thing about the channel is saturday afternoons when they follow this same format but the whole thing is controlled by the wonderful Jeff Stelling a man who is funny, charming and utterly in love with football.

Sky Sports news is a great free service and really gives a great impression of the channel, you can't watch ofr too long as stories are basically repeated every hour and it'd get incredibly boring but its a great channel to dip in and out of if your a fan of football, cricket, rugby, boxing, darts or any other sport.
