Advantages: Free
Disadvantages: repetative, boring, always on
Some of you may have read my review on Fifa 2008, I hope you enjoyed view of it. This review will be much the same, Sky sports news from a womans point of view - and again how different it will be from all the others you have read by the men.
Unfortunately my husband is addicted to football. In his peking order it goes my daughter, football and then me. I know where I stand and whilst i'm really no that bothered because I know many woman including my own mother suffer from this it can sometimes get a little frustrating.
When I started dating my husband a few years back I was quite aware of his addiction to sky sports news but I felt it would fade when he had other commitments like our daughter. I also thought it was something he watched when his brothers were about.
Unfortunately when we moved into out own place nothing changed and for a while when our bt vision was being set up I thought he was going to go mad that he couldnt watch it.
Now i have watched it myself a few times, many times I have no choice but more recently I have been paying more attention. For review purposes only of course. I am a football fan myself and although I may seem, very anti football to you all I am actually not and have been brought up watching football. I will add that I am a Tottneham supporter and I hope that this will not affect the way you rate my review in anyway.
Sky sports news is a freeview channel so unfortunately there is no getting away from it. The thing that gets me about it is the repetativeness. Sometimes I think I am going mad. I will be doing something else whilst my husband watches it and I hear something that I am sure I only heard half an hour ago. The banners down the bottom always say the same things and they show the same footage over and over again. Is there not enough sports news to fill up the channel? Is this not a sign that there just shouldnt be a whole channel dedicated to sports news.
Do they really get the viewers. I really thought that my husband was the only one who could possibly watch this channel for 3 hours non stop. The same things running over and over again, but seems there are a few of them out there.
So the channel is obviously not that well designed and timed. They will be in the middle of a headline and suddenly it will cut out to start some adverts. They will just get to a juicy bit of football gossip and bang...gone!! Or the banners down the side will just get to the team you want to read about and bang....adverts. And it dont come back after where it left off, it carries on running so that when the show returns they are talking about something completely different. Very frustrating.
There is no variety. The same things everyday. This team brought this player and sold this player and this cricketer has got a broken toe and this tennis player is retiring and dear me do they not have anything slightly different to report.
OK so its a free channel. And thank God it is because if I was paying for it I would be painfully disappointed. I can't stand it when we are watching something on Tv and suddenly my husband interupts it to check out the sports news. Its exactly the same news as it was half an hour ago!! Just replayed.
Unfortunately I dont have a lot of good things to say about this channel. I know all the men rave about it and I will probably be bombarded with messages saying how unfair I am being but really, is this channel really that important to every man in the world? It seems so!!
Summary: Avoid ladies!!
