Advantages: you get to hear about the goals scored and football/ sports news

Disadvantages: you do not actually see any match play

Ok, so i'm female. My entire knowledge of and experience in watching Sky Sports news has come from either sitting in a pub when there is a match on my husband wants to watch but that pub is not showing it, or from sitting at home watching this channel as we don't have sky sports.

In this sense Sky Sports News provides a "better than nothing" real time update on the football. It is watching 4 grown men sitting around watching football. You cannot see what they can see, but they try to explain what is happening -- they will interject and shout and get aminated if there is a goal or almost a goal. They also keep up some banter between them and often there is a great deal of raucous laughter going on in the studio.

There are four sections to the screen- the left portion is the shot of the tv studio, the right shows text ie substitutions, goals, scores, lists; the bottom of the screen has scrolling text with scores and news on it and there is normally a white part at the bottom of the screen that changes every 30 seconds or so with match data or statistics on it.

We normally watch sky sports news when it comes to football. I am aware they cover other sports- tennis, golf, snooker, cricket etc but I have not watched these so cannot review their coverage.

As far as the football goes- being female and not a huge football fan, i find sky sports news easy to follow and informative. There is a lot of content on the show- they talk about rumours and injuries and forecasts and their opinions on players and how they are performing and critique teams.

Therefore, overall I would recommend this show if you do not have access to the sky sports or setanta/ ESPN and do not like listening to sports on the radio. When the games are in progress, you get the equivalent of radio coverage but for a few teams simultaneously- so they cut from commentator to commentator in the studio and at the games to tell you who has socred and to try to explain what is happening.

Summary: Better than nothing to keep up with the news in real time and scores
