Sky Sports News is a channel broadcasting Sport Related news 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It is part of the Sky channels owned & operated by BSkyB. On Sky it is channel 405 & is part of the News selection of channels you can buy. On Virgin Media it is channel 517 & on Freeview it is channel 83.

The channel originally began broadcast on the first of October 1998 when Sky's digital Satellite service was launched. It has been broadcasting ever since.

The format of the channel is news story after news story. Occasionally there are specific programmes which focus on something specific however these are not that regular. The only real standout show they have is Soccer Saturday. A footbal related show that from 3.00 p.m. 'till 5.00 p.m. every Saturday that is an English Football League Matchday brings you the scores from every game in the country as they happen. This programme is usually broadcast on Sky Sports 1 at the same time.

As the show is by a UK company for UK viewers it does tend to focus on British sports. Predominatly Football but also Rugby, Rugby League & Cricket. Although this may be true it does also devote a small amount of time to foreign sports & you can find out Spanish Football or American Football results on here.

I wouldn't really recommend this channel to a woman as it would bore most of the to tears. I'm not entirely sure that I would recommend prolinged viewing to the fellas either. What I would say though, if you want to catch up on the days sporting action from all angles & for all sports, then you can't go wrong with this channel. It is very good at what it does. It's just that there's only so much sporting news anyone wants.
