The slogan for The Box is 'Music television you control'. The concept is that The Box is like a music video jukebox. You phone up and vote for the video you want to see. However, the phonecalls are something like 60p/min. And all you are doing is voting for your favourite video, it doesn't mean they will actually play the video when you phone up. All it does mean is that the video will stay in their playlist longer.

Having said all this, I watch The Box more than any of the other music channels on Sky because they just get on and play the videos, no annoying VJ's, far less advertising than the other channels and they play the sort of music I like all day (and night) long.

Up until recently the main downside to The Box was their picture quality which quite frankly was terrible. I found out the reason for this was the jukebox system they used converted the videos to NTSC and then back to PAL again. Thankfully they've finally sorted this out and the picture quality matches that of the other digital channels.
