Advantages: Great music entertainment

Disadvantages: none

The Box is Britain’s no.1 most watched music channel; even more viewed that MTV and VH-1. Its simple, its just like a jukebox phone up on a premium sort of number [60p a minute] have your code ready for a song and just use your keypad to type in the song number. It takes quite a while for your request to be shown but as you type the number in, what your typing appears on the screen.

The Box is not just simply music videos, there are features like BOXTALK, where The Box have interviews with singers and bands about new albums, singles and careers etc. There are also BOX TOPS, which is a quick feature to show the most requested videos on The Box. The Box also reviews certain films [like films with good soundtracks] in BOX FILM.

The channels is pure music entertainment and is a brilliant channel; there are no long arduous commercial breaks just a few adverts here and there. It’s a really good channel to watch and even have on in the background.

The quality has drastically improved and my opinion was more based from a person who has never requested a song... I do know though that a persons selection may take days to be put on the screen!

You need to warn people that their selection may not come onto the screen for several hours. That has been my experience. Also, the quality of the videos compared with the same ones played on other channels, tends to be worse, often blurred and with a fuzzy soundtrack. I think they must convert them into a different format so that they can be automatically selected by computer from an online library. I expect they do it to reduce the amount of storage space they would otherwise need.
