Advantages: Very good mix of comedy quiz, sitcoms and sketch shows

Disadvantages: Probably not your cup of tea if you are not too keen on comedy shows.

Where do I start with Dave, well I would say that this TV channel is supposedly aimed more at guys but I love most of the programmes shown. Does that make me an exception, I don't think so, I would guess most women would watch this channel even if it was just for the odd programme.
I believe that the channel was originally called UK Gold Classics and it has been rebranded a few times before it settled on the name Dave as "Everybody knows a bloke called Dave" quite a novel idea for the re-naming of a channel. It also has the slogan "the home of witty banter" in which I would have to agree.

I enjoy most comedy and I especially have a fondness for comedy from the 90's like Red Dwarf. Very recently in April this year they showed the new three episodes which were entitled Back To Earth this was the first time the channel had showed an original programme.

To be honest if there is nothing on the other channels I know for a fact I can usually find something entertaining to watch on Dave. It does have the full package with a very good selection of both TV series and also quiz shows. Like with most channels there is the odd programme that doesn't really interest me such as Ray Mears.

This channel has many different shows on offer so for cars and motoring there is of course Top Gear which I don't mind watching at all mainly for the fun stuff as oppose to the test driving of the new cars on the market.

For quiz shows there are QI, Have I got News for you and Mock the Week which are regularly on in the evening.

You can also watch sketch shows so why not try The Fast Show, Little Britain or Harry Enfield and Chums both very entertaining, even though I have probably seen all the Little Britain episodes at least twice.

I also enjoy Live at the Apollo which has many stand up comedy performances for example by Jack Dee, Jimmy Carr and Dara O' Brien.

If you turn on Dave and a programme is half way through they have introduced a new channel called Dave ja vu which is basically the plus one hour version of Dave. This now seems to be a common occurance with most channels on digital television.

You can find Dave on Sky - channel 111, Virgin TV - channel 128 and Freeview - channel 19.

If you want to spend an hour or two watching some light and funny shows you should look no further and settle down to watch Dave.

Summary: For a fun and sometimes educational time give Dave a go, you may find you like it!
