Advantages: None

Disadvantages: Paying more for a service that we are not getting!

This makes me mad - I have recently heard about the BBCs proposition to increase the Licence fee for those with the privilege of Digital Television - why I ask!

The whole idea of the Television Licence - as I see it - is to pay for the BBC, which exists in the public sector, to provide a service for the British Public! And we all pay a fee because the BBC don’t advertise on there channels - so theoretically if a TV could somehow be adapted to pick up only ITv/C4/C5/SKY then a TV licence wouldn’t be needed - again correct me if I am wrong please - but the BBC have proposed upping the TV FEE.

The reason that this is making me so mad is the fact that the BBC digital channels (News24/Parliment/Choice/Knowledge) are already advertising in the same way as BSkyB and the other terrestrial channels!

So surely if they charge more for a digital licence than a terrestrial licence then we (as the consumer) are being well and truly ripped off. And in my eyes it contravenes all the rules that the BBC themselves have lain down.
