Advantages: If you have a licence you don't get fined!
Disadvantages: Not value for money
Why should we have to pay for a couple of television channels that have rather more programmes we would rather not watch than those we would. If ITV etc can hold their own by showing advertisements inbetween programmes then why can't the BBC. Would anyone really object to that couple of minute break to grab a cuppa or much needed break? I for one wouldn't. What I do object to is paying over £100 for the luxury of catching one or two programmes a week worth viewing. Pay per view like Sky would be a better option and then if you only watched ITV, C4 and C5 you would pay nothing at all. Why does the licence fee keep rising? The standard of programmes are not getting any better. The soaps can't be more expensive to produce that ITV's so what justification is there? Why pay less for black and white than colour? The same programmes are being watched.
