Advantages: No adverts

Disadvantages: Costs money!

I find myself a little torn in this debate. Personally I hate adverts. They drive me nuts and I don't mind paying not to have them. On the other hand, I am not a well off person by any means, and struggle to pay the licence fee.
The problem is that there is no real choice. You either have a television and pay the fee, or you don't have a television. You cannot choose to have a TV just to watch ITV or cable or sky. If you want a TV, you must pay the lisence fee, and this to me seems a little unfair. Everyone must pay the same regardless of whether they watch for one hour a week or one hundred hours a week.
It seems good value for money at about £9 a month when you think that with Cable you pay £10 a month, but then with cable you recieve alot more than one channel for your £10. (although all have adverts!)
I'm not sure what the solution is to this situation, maybe with the invention of digital TV, it would be possible in the future for people to choose not to have the BBC and therefore not pay a licencing fee.
