Mugged by the state!
That's what i think of TV licenses. I think the whole practice is archaic and should never have been invented let alone follow us into the new millennium.
Yet like sheep to the slaughter- we stump up.
Why should we?
You don't pay for a license for a washing machine. A super dooper computer! So why for a tv.
I think its just a way for the poorer amongst us to feel even worse off.
My father was a magistrate and the people he felt most sorry for was the single mum with a couple of children, whose only pleasure was the tv. It broke his heart to have to fine her- and he made sure it was for the lowest possible that he could get away with. After all he would say- if she wasn't experiencing financial difficulties she would not have been in a mess in the first place.
It makes me so angry!
Added to that elderly people struggling along in their own homes have to pay full amount if they are under 75 whereas people in homes etc pay about 5p each. It's ridiculous and I'm still angry!
